Prof. Dr. Mahipal S. Sachdev is a Padma Shri Award-winning ophthalmologist with over 42 years of experience in advanced eye care and ophthalmic surgery. He is the Chairman and Medical Director of Centre for Sight Group of Eye Hospitals and is widely recognized for his contributions to refractive surgery, cataract surgery and corneal care. Dr. Sachdev completed his MBBS and MD in Ophthalmology from AIIMS, New Delhi, and holds MS Ophthalmology, DNB, MNAMS, FRCS, FICO (UK) and FAICO qualifications. He also completed advanced fellowship training in Cornea at Georgetown University, Washington D.C., USA. His areas of expertise include SMILE eye surgery, LASIK and refractive surgery, cataract surgery, corneal transplantation, ocular surface and dry eye treatment, keratoconus and SILK surgery. He has been associated with several major advancements in ophthalmic surgery in India and is credited with pioneering SMILE, bladeless LASIK and other advanced technologies. Dr. Sachdev has served in senior academic and clinical positions at AIIMS and Indraprastha Apollo Hospital before becoming Chairman and Medical Director of Centre for Sight in 1996. He has received numerous national and international honours, including the Padma Shri in 2007 and the Lifetime Achievement Award in Ophthalmology.
